One of our lady guests caught a superb 10lb salmon in Island pool on the usual wee black fly. The fish was very fresh and sea liced. Her proud husband was on hand to assist with the landing and return.

A Roe Buck swam the river just below where Jeremy Clayton was fishing A Kingfisher has been seen flying up the river Some Ospreys came to investigate the fishers A pair of Nightingales can be heard most evenings And the wild flowers are just stunning at the moment!
Jeremy Clayton, seriously on form this week, caught a lovely 6lb salmon early this morning in Little Quithel using a Munroe Killer size 10. To universal dismay, another of the party lost a much bigger fish. In the time honoured manner of “the one that got away” this fish was estimated around the 20lb mark……My reporter at the scene described the language as colourful!
RE-NAMING 16TH MAY 5 FISH MONDAY. 2 fish in 2 hours turned into 5 fish across the Lower Dess beat before close of play. This morning a delighted estate owner, Jeremy Clayton, caught a 6 lb sea-liced hen fish with a size 8 Blue Charm. Looking like a great week for the Dee and Dess – and it’s only Wednesday. Watch this space!
Welcome to Monday on the Lower Dess beat. This morning a good 9 lb salmon was taken from the Jock Rae pool with a Black & Blue fly. Soon afterwards a very experienced fisher caught a sea trout in our Island pool using a Dee Sheep. Looks like it is going to be an epic week. Watch this space for updates…..
Meet Flo, a Springer Collie cross (Sprollie!) who belongs to Anna our lovely Lodge Manager. As you can see, she has taken to life in Royal Deeside with some style.
Our ghillie, Eoin Smith, caught a very fresh 8lb fish in the Rossachs pool late on Wednesday night using a small black fly. River life quieter today with the drop in temperature but double digits on the mercury predicted for Monday.
