Anna, our wonderful Lodge Manager, was relieved when Eoin Smith swiftly and expertly removed this wasp nest from outside one of the South wing bathrooms. We were amazed at how well the nest camouflaged with the granite walls. Clever little things!

Aboyne Highland Games – Saturday 6th August

Theses traditional Highland games have taken place on Aboyne Green in the centre of the village since 1867. It is a day full of spectacle with massed pipe bands performing throughout the day as well as cabers being tossed,  all manner of stones being put and hammers thrown. Combined Weight of 60 lbs!

A party of three fishermen from Yorkshire have had a blinder of a week on the Lower Dess beat.  Seven fish in three days with a combined weight of 60 lbs (including a very serious 16 lb salmon).
